Job description
Seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Fluid Dynamics to work on concept assessment, parameter determination, and liquid handling solution development for IVD products. The role involves conducting feasibility studies, developing test stands, and optimizing designs through CFD simulations and experimental verification.
Responsibilities
Profile
- Concept Assessment and Parameter Determination: You analyze and assess new technologies and test them. Using your fluidic and physical expertise, you define and verify various parameter settings to achieve the desired pipetting performance for the specific application.
- Liquid Handling Solution Development: You support the technical implementation of liquid handling solutions in the context of IVD product development. With your fluidic and physical expertise and Computational Fluid Dynamics, you assist Design Engineers in developing components to optimize the design from a fluid dynamics perspective. You verify your simulations through experiments.
- Feasibility Studies: You initiate, lead, and conduct feasibility studies in the area of liquid handling to meet technical requirements and minimize risks.
- Test Stand Development: You define the necessary test stands required for feasibility studies and parameter determination. In collaboration with Mechanical and Electronics Design Engineers and Software Engineers, you commission the test stands and program the required software workflows.
- Completed Bachelor's or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Fluid Dynamics.
- Initial experience with CFD software and techniques for simulating complex fluid flows, including grid generation, simulation, and post-processing.
- Strong analytical skills and an independent, structured approach to analyzing and solving complex problems.
- Enjoy experimental fluid dynamics and like hands-on work on test setups to confirm theories and verify the performance of the setups.
- Ability to program complex test workflows in Python and C#, and to use modern AI tools like Gemini or Claude Code to develop efficient solutions.
- Desire to work in international, cross-functional teams and exchange ideas with other experts.
- Very good written and spoken communication in German and English.
