Project overview

For upcoming modernization projects with mid-sized companies in the DACH region, we are looking for experienced Azure Cloud Architects (m/f/d) to join our expert pool. The work is 100% remote, and we welcome applications from anywhere in the world.

A typical project looks like this:

Starting point

An established business application (backend services, web portal in Angular, mobile app in Flutter) runs partly on-premise and partly with a hosting provider. The customer works with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID and has chosen Azure as the target platform. The goal is a secure, scalable and cost-transparent target architecture on Azure and a step-by-step migration without service interruption. Surrounding systems such as an ERP (e.g. SAP) are connected through well-defined interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Assess the current architecture and non-functional requirements (availability, security, data protection, cost)
• Design the target architecture on Azure, including a landing zone according to the Cloud Adoption Framework, management groups and subscriptions, networking and identity with Entra ID
• Select the runtime platform (e.g. Azure Container Apps or AKS) and data storage (e.g. Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure SQL)
• Plan migration and releases together with the development teams
• Design and help set up CI/CD (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps), infrastructure as code (Bicep or Terraform), monitoring and logging with Azure Monitor
• Implement security and compliance requirements (Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, Azure Policy, data residency in the EU)
• Communicate architecture options transparently and present them to decision-making bodies
• Document architecture decisions and ensure they are implemented

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a cloud or solution architect, including at least 3 years with Microsoft Azure in production projects
• Hands-on experience with Entra ID, Virtual Network and landing zones, Container Apps or AKS, and Azure Database for PostgreSQL or Azure SQL
• Infrastructure as code with Bicep or Terraform
• Fluent English
• At least 4 hours of daily overlap with Central European Time (CET)
