Work Environment

In terms of environment, within the team there are 12 Data/AI technologies, including Power BI, Cognos, Datorama, SAP Hana Live, GCP, Oracle, and SQL Server.

  • Power BI Expertise & Optimization (Tabular Model): Definition of architecture standards (Import, Direct Lake, DirectQuery, composite models). Audit, compression, cardinality management, partitioning, aggregations, and advanced optimization of DAX measures and overall performance.
  • Microsoft Fabric Observability & Governance: Implementation of a solution for monitoring and observing Capacity Unit (CU) consumption, alert management, and sizing methodology.
  • Industrialization, CI/CD & Migration: Source code management strategy (TMDL, Git branches), deployment pipeline integration, automation (PowerShell/Python), and support for migrating existing assets (Azure Analysis Services and Power BI on-premise) to Microsoft Fabric.
  • Large-scale tabular modeling: compression and cardinality management, partitioning, aggregations, composite models, calculation groups.
  • DAX optimization, not just writing: context transition, iterator cost, filter propagation, reading query plans.
  • Fabric capacity mechanisms: smoothing, bursting, throttling tiers, interactive versus background operations, CU allocation by workload and workspace.
  • Direct Lake: relevant use cases, fallback conditions to DirectQuery and how to avoid them, framing and reframing behavior after Delta writes, V-Order and file maintenance, choice between shortcut and copy.
  • Azure Analysis Services: tabular design, processing strategies, and trade-offs related to migration to Fabric semantic models.
  • Power BI and Fabric REST APIs, with automation in at least one of PowerShell or Python languages.
  • Version control (source control) of BI artifacts: TMDL, Git integration, deployment pipelines.
  • SQL, with real expertise on at least one major engine.
  • English: fluent, essential.
