Middleware Engineer – IBM WebSphere, Apache Tomcat & Ansible Long-Term

For our client, we are currently looking for several Middleware Engineers (m/f/d) with a focus on IBM WebSphere, Apache Tomcat, and Ansible to support second-level support as well as the administration, automation, and further development of a central middleware infrastructure.

Period: From commissioning until December 31, 2029

Requirements

• Min. 5 years of experience in independent administration, configuration, operation, and support of middleware systems
• Min. 4 years of experience in script development with Bash, Perl, Jython, and wsadmin
• Min. 5 years of experience in Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management
• Min. 5 years of experience with version control for central provision of scripts and automation objects
• Min. 3 years of experience with TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and load balancers
• Min. 3 years of experience with directory services and Identity & Access Management (IAM)
• Min. 3 years of experience with Linux (RedHat, SLES), AIX, and Windows Server
• Min. 3 years of experience with Citrix/VADP environments
• Min. 3 years of experience with the creation and analysis of Java heap dumps and thread dumps
• Profound knowledge in the administration of IBM WebSphere Liberty (from version *)
• Profound knowledge in IBM HTTP Server (from version 9.0.5.x)
• Profound knowledge in Apache Tomcat (versions 9.0.x, 10.1.x, and 11.0.x)
• Profound knowledge in Apache HTTPD Webserver (version 2.4.x)
• Experience with SSL/TLS certificate management and PKI
• Experience with Ansible for automation of installations, configurations, and deployments
• Experience with ITIL processes as well as the tools Maximo, USU ITSM, and Jira
• German language skills at least at C1 level and English language skills at B1 level

Service Description:

• Second-level support and administration of middleware components, especially IBM WebSphere and Apache Tomcat
• Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management including ticket processing with Maximo, USU ITSM, and Jira
• Installation, configuration, maintenance, and migration of middleware products
• Execution of security patches, updates, and technical optimization measures
• Planning, execution, and automation of deployments
• Execution of WebSphere and Tomcat migrations
• Installation and configuration of digital certificates as well as SSL/TLS certificate management
• Technical troubleshooting, error analysis, and performance optimization
• Automation of configuration and patch management with Ansible
• Development and adaptation of scripts and frameworks with Bash, Perl, Python, Jython, and wsadmin
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, operating concepts, and operating manuals
• Support in the setup and further development of middleware infrastructures
