Operational Stabilization & Maintenance Legacy Application (MS Access/VBA)

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced developer for the operational stabilization and maintenance of a business-critical Microsoft Access-based legacy application. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring stable, secure, and functionally correct operation over a period of 16 months.

Your tasks include analyzing, prioritizing, and sustainably resolving incidents and errors on multiple technical levels. You will perform maintenance and troubleshooting work in Microsoft Access, VBA, C#/.NET, SQL Server, Windows services, and various interfaces. Furthermore, you will implement necessary adjustments due to security requirements, regulatory specifications, and technical dependencies.

You will be responsible for conducting developer, integration, regression, and functional tests, as well as supporting controlled rollouts with fallback planning. Structured documentation of all changes, analyses, and code modifications in Azure DevOps is essential.

We expect several years of experience in maintaining business-critical custom or legacy applications. You should have very good knowledge of Microsoft Access and VBA, as well as good to very good knowledge of C#, .NET Framework, and current .NET versions. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, relational data models, and interfaces (REST, ODBC, OLEDB, COM) is required.

Additionally, you will need practical knowledge in Incident Management, Secure Development, and Change Management, as well as very good skills in Azure DevOps. Fluent English and experience in regulated environments are advantageous.

The assignment is hybrid at the Darmstadt, Hesse location.
