Job description

The Transport Coordination employee is responsible for arranging and coordinating the transport of materials for projects and contractors. You will act as the link between the internal organization and transport providers, ensuring timely and complete execution of all transport.

Project overview

Purpose of the function The Transport Coordination employee is responsible for arranging and coordinating the transport of materials for the projects and contractors who carry out the work. Liander has outsourced its transport. The transport department ensures that all material orders from contractors and mechanics working for Liander are converted into transport orders for the transport service providers. You are the link between the internal organization on the one hand and the transport companies on the other.

Together with your team and the transport planners, you ensure that all transport is carried out on time and in full/complete. Liander's transport is specialized work, often carried out with trucks with cranes, but also partly in distribution on pallets. You are not expected to schedule trucks and drivers yourself, but affinity and experience in this work are certainly valuable.

You do ensure that all material requests are processed correctly, on time, and completely into transport orders, these are passed on to the transport planning of our transport providers, and you monitor that they carry this out according to the order.

What position do I hold? The Transport employee is hierarchically part of the Transport & Project Coordination team within the SRM Logistics department. You work in a team with 5 other transport coordinators on this task, and you divide the work among yourselves over the day/week. You have frequent external contact with contractors, project coordinators, mechanics, but also with the planning and drivers of the transport providers. Internally within the Logistics department, you have a lot of contact with Warehousing, Service Desk, and Inventory Management.

You are the connecting link between our internal logistics departments and the customers and projects that carry out the projects.

Added value The Transport Coordination employee:

The Transport Coordination employee communicates operationally with project managers in the field and contractors about the delivery and return of materials. You inform and coordinate deliveries and returns, but also address internal managers and contractors about their responsibility for timeliness and completeness in requests and required information. You have telephone contact with drivers and direct them in case of problems with delivery or pickup of returns. You coordinate daily with the transport providers' planning and with the internal Logistics departments about open orders and returns.

Together with your teammates, you daily monitor operational transport performance and KPIs and report to the Team Leader Transport and Project Coordination.

Complexity The Transport Coordination team, in collaboration with the transport providers, is responsible for the timely and full/complete delivery and return of material orders at the lowest possible cost. You know the rules, processes, and procedures surrounding transport and not only know what safe working in transport entails but also help create the conditions for it to be carried out safely.

You ensure that material requesters, internal logistics departments, and the planning and drivers of the transport providers work according to agreements and work processes and engage in dialogue/address them if deviations occur. We ensure, together with the transport provider, an efficient solution in case of problems/calamities. We work maximally digitally and from SAP S4 and specifically SAP Transport Management (TM) and Business Network For Logistics (BN4L).
