Overall Project Manager for Transformation Project

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Overall Project Manager to lead a large-scale transformation project in the public sector. The project runs until the end of 2026 with an option to extend and will be carried out 90% remotely (10% on-site). The position is advertised as a part-time role with 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the overall management of the project across all phases, including steering and coordination of all sub-projects and project participants. Your responsibility extends to time, budget, and quality. You will moderate complex coordination processes, conduct stakeholder management at all levels, and lead the steering committee. Further tasks include conflict and escalation management, decision management to ensure project progress, consulting specialist departments, and building and leading a high-performing project team.

Requirements

You bring several years of experience as an Overall Project Manager in complex IT projects, ideally in the public sector or with social security institutions. Demonstrable experience in transformation projects is required. A successfully completed degree in Business Informatics or Business Administration is assumed. You have sound knowledge in multi-project management, program management, and agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe). Very good German language skills (C1/C2) are necessary.

We expect strong skills in stakeholder and conflict management as well as experience at management and steering committee level. Knowledge of project management methods, governance, and the management of complex organizations complete the profile.
