Job description
We are looking for a Platform/DevOps Engineer to join an established platform team, responsible for the stable operation and continuous development of a modern cloud and Kubernetes platform, primarily on AWS.
Project overview
You will be part of an established platform team and, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for the stable operation and continuous development of a modern cloud and Kubernetes platform.
The platform provides standardized and, as far as possible, self-serviceable infrastructure and platform services to numerous development teams. In addition to AWS and Kubernetes, Azure as well as on-premise/private cloud environments will play a role in the future. The goal is an increasingly abstracted and cloud-agnostic platform architecture.
A significant focus is on automation, Infrastructure as Code, self-service, observability, and developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Operation, further development, and modernization of productive Kubernetes platforms
- Setup and operation of Kubernetes clusters on AWS, especially with Amazon EKS
- Automation of infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform
- Further development of automated CI/CD and deployment processes
- Setup and provision of standardized platform services for development teams
- Development of self-service solutions and so-called Golden Paths
- Support in standardizing and automating recurring infrastructure processes
- Setup and further development of monitoring and observability solutions
- Operation of monitoring stacks with, for example, Prometheus and Grafana
- Implementation of GitOps approaches and automated deployments
- Conception of secure cloud and platform architectures, considering IAM, network segmentation, and authorization concepts
- Ensuring the stability, scalability, performance, and security of the platform
- Collaboration with development teams and the developer experience environment
- Support with cloud, infrastructure, and modernization projects
- Further development of the platform towards multi-cloud or cloud-agnostic architecture
- Creation and maintenance of technical documentation and runbooks
- After appropriate familiarization, participation in on-call duty
