Assignment Description

As a Platform Architect, you form the bridge between vision, architecture, and realization. You:

We are looking for someone who works iteratively, pragmatically, and customer-oriented, with an eye for both technology and developer experience. This means being able to translate through an HLD and LLD to the developer. The suitable candidate is strong in communication, knows how to connect teams, and can clearly substantiate complex technical choices.

Background Assignment

DevEx is working on a platform service called "The Generic Development Street of JIVC". This service offers an accredited development street, approved by Enterprise Architecture, with which 80% of JIVC's custom software can be developed, integrated, and deployed in a cloud-agnostic manner.

• Design a scalable, future-proof platform architecture that aligns with the needs of DevSecOps teams.
• Build and maintain an Internal Developer Platform that unburdens and accelerates developers.
• Work closely with Enterprise and Solution architects, security advisors, and multiple development and management teams.
• Lead the implementation of IDP components using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Kubernetes, Backstage, Istio, observability solutions, and both private and public cloud technologies.
• Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, self-service portals, and self-healing platform components.
• Ensure security principles such as compliance by design, security by default, and a secure software supply chain.
• Advise on platform strategy and future innovations within the DevSecOps domain.

In addition, the candidate preferably possesses in-depth knowledge of cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes ecosystems, automation frameworks, and platform principles such as IaC, CI/CD, observability, security, compliance, and software supply chain management. The candidate is familiar with modern concepts such as Platform as a Product, Team Topologies, DevSecOps principles, and cloud-native architecture.

Candidate preferably has demonstrable work experience with DevSecOps (DevOps).

Candidate preferably has more than demonstrable work experience with the requested role within the eCF profile and assignment description.

• Specify and implement the architecture of complex ICT solutions
• Lead development and integration of components
• Lead and/or execute system integration
• Ensure integration of security by design
• Analyze technical and business requirements
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive overview of usability requirements
• Infrastructure architecture and/or platform engineering (at least relevant and demonstrable work experience of 10 years)
• Designing and building platform engineering environments for at least 20 DevSecOps teams (at least 5 years)
• Designing platforms in air-gapped or highly secure environments.
• Having certifications from Archimate, CKA/CKS, Gitlab CI/CD, CISSP/CCSP is preferred.

This assignment is based on the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF). This is a European standard for describing IT competencies and the associated level of responsibility. The eCF profile indicates which competencies and at what level (e-1 to e-5) are expected from the candidate. We expect candidates to clearly demonstrate in their CV that they possess these competencies. This can be done by describing for each relevant assignment or position:

Monitors new technological developments and applies them where applicable. Provides technological design leadership.
