Platform Engineer – Kubernetes & Multi-Cloud

Project overview

For our client, we are looking for a Platform Engineer – Kubernetes & Multi-Cloud to provide the following services:

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new cloud infrastructures in Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure using Terraform
• Refactor existing cloud landscapes to improve scalability, maintainability, and degree of automation
• Develop and expand Kubernetes platforms in cloud and on-premises environments
• Define and implement infrastructure standards, architectural concepts, and operating models
• Automate infrastructure and deployment processes according to Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps principles
• Develop technical target architectures in coordination with relevant stakeholders
• Conduct workshops, technical training, and knowledge transfer measures
• Document architectural decisions, platform standards, and operating processes

Requirements

• Sound experience with at least one hyperscaler:
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Microsoft Azure
• Sound experience with Kubernetes in productive enterprise environments
• Very good knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
• Experience in building and further developing cloud infrastructures
• Experience with Kubernetes platforms both on-premises and in public cloud environments
• Knowledge of Linux-based operating environments
• Experience with Git and modern CI/CD processes
• Ability for technical conception and independent implementation of complex platform requirements
• Experience in conducting technical workshops or training

Nice to have

• GitOps knowledge (e.g., Argo CD, Flux)
• Docker knowledge
• Experience with observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or Loki
• Experience with Kubernetes networking and service mesh (e.g., Cilium, Calico, Istio)
• Knowledge in the area of Policy as Code (Kyverno, OPA)
• Experience with secrets management and PKI solutions (HashiCorp Vault, SOPS, cert-manager, External Secrets)
• Experience with Kubernetes manifest management
• Knowledge in the NIS2 or BSI basic protection environment
• Ansible knowledge
• Experience with messaging and database technologies such as RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Redis, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
