Principal Technologist - IT Operations - £800 per day - Inside IR35

6-month contract
Location - Hybrid (London or Manchester)
The role:
A senior technical leadership opportunity to help shape a new IT Operations function for government and the wider public sector.
You'll lead the development of a 10-year vision and strategy, assess the maturity of operational services across government and develop future-state approaches and roadmaps, including the potential impact of agentic AI. You'll also work with senior stakeholders to influence government digital strategy, evaluate complex technical proposals and help shape the adoption of new operational technologies.

- Significant technical experience across IT Operations or software development, ideally within government.
- Experience delivering technology and operational change at scale.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change across organisational boundaries.
- Experience evaluating complex, high-risk technical proposals and developing appropriate design approaches.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with technology suppliers and shaping technical strategy and roadmaps.
