Project overview
Contract Process Safety/Risk Engineer for Vadodara to support Oil & Gas/Petrochemical/Chemical/EPC projects. The role focuses on leading/participating in PHA studies (e.g., HAZOP/HAZID/What-if/LOPA/SIL), reviewing safety studies and relief/consequence analysis, ensuring compliance with international standards (API, NFPA, OSHA, IEC, ISO), and producing safety deliverables such as Fire & Gas mapping, fireproofing, and Escape/Evacuation/Rescue studies.
Requires a chemical engineering background, 5–12 years’ experience, and hands-on use of consequence/PHA tools like PHAST, ALOHA, or PHA-Pro; LNG experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct/ participate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, What-if, LOPA, and SIL assessments.
- Review and evaluate safety studies, relief system design, and consequence analysis.
- Ensure compliance with international safety standards and company procedures.
- Support preparation of safety deliverables including
- Fire & Gas Mapping
- Escape, Evacuation & Rescue studies
- Safety philosophies and procedures
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams during project execution.
- Provide technical guidance on hazardous area classification and loss prevention requirements.
- Support audits, safety reviews, and client meetings.
Requirements
- API standards knowledge
- NFPA standards knowledge
- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) facilitation/participation
- At least one PHA method: HAZOP or HAZID or What-if or LOPA or SIL assessment
- At least one tool: PHAST or ALOHA or PHA-Pro (or similar)
- Consequence analysis / safety studies review
- Relief system design review (safety perspective)
- Fire & Gas mapping
- Fireproofing studies/specification support
- Escape, Evacuation & Rescue (EER) studies
- Safety philosophies and procedures development/review
- Hazardous area classification support
- Loss prevention requirements knowledge
- Compliance with international safety standards and company procedures
- Multidisciplinary coordination during project execution
- Support audits, safety reviews, and client meetings
