Job description
The municipality of Heerlen is looking for a Project Leader for Energy Hubs within the Regional Energy Strategy of South Limburg. This role involves facilitating the development and realization of local energy systems that integrate energy generation, storage, and optimized usage.
Project overview
For the municipality of Heerlen, YER is looking for a Project Leader Energy Hubs Regional Energy Strategy South Limburg (RES ZL).
The Position
Realizing projects to increase regional sustainable energy generation is almost impossible without embedding it in a local energy system of generation, storage, and optimized usage. Energy hubs are a local collaboration between energy users and producers, jointly coordinating energy generation, transport, storage, conversion, and consumption. Collaboration and local coordination can alleviate congestion in the short term and create space for local sustainable generation. Therefore, the RES ZL needs a Project Leader for Energy Hubs.
As Project Leader for Energy Hubs, you will work with great autonomy for and with municipalities, grid operators, and initiators of energy hubs in the region.
As Project Leader, you primarily have two roles: that of controller for projects in the region that need assistance, and that of an extension of the project organization of the municipalities. You know what is happening in the region, where promising projects emerge, and you keep track of where help is needed. You will assist in the initiation and progress of projects that can lead to a (cooperative) energy hub, preferably one that also involves generation.
For this, you will maintain close ties with the relevant municipal officials, as well as with Enexis, possibly active advisors and hub directors, initiators among companies, institutions, cooperatives, and possibly individuals. You will be the expert in realizing energy hubs. You will assist the municipal official when documents, decisions, or permit applications need to be processed by the municipal organization.
You will be aware of current developments regarding energy hubs, including legislation and regulations, and what is happening at the national level/Ministry of Climate and Green Growth, RVO, Invest NL, ACM, and grid operators on this topic. You will be able to quickly build trust between multiple parties and ensure that the added value of collaboration is recognized and utilized by all parties. You will also recognize when external expertise is needed in areas such as legal, organizational, technical, or financial.
About the Company
You will work with a team of enthusiastic colleagues within the spatial domain and can count on a good work-life balance. We also reward your commitment and performance with an attractive salary and appealing extras. Our employment conditions at a glance:

Together with residents, businesses, and social organizations, we are investigating how we can save more energy, where we can generate sustainable electricity from solar and wind, and how we can phase out natural gas step by step.
You will work within the core team of RESZL, which, in addition to the program manager, includes several advisors, including two project leaders for solar on roofs.
