Project Manager ER1

Project overview

For our client, we are now looking for a senior Project Manager.

Background:

AB Transitio is a company owned by twenty regions in Sweden. AB Transitio's mission is to procure, finance, manage, and lease rail vehicles for regional rail traffic for our owners. The purpose is primarily to optimize the owners' vehicle costs and ensure high quality and competence in the areas of procurement, management, and maintenance. AB Transitio's employees act, conduct, and develop the business based on lack of prestige, mutual respect, transparency, community, and responsibility.

AB Transitio's Dosto fleet consists of 60 vehicles (leased assets) and these are currently distributed among two different lessees (Mälardalstrafik and Tåg i Bergslagen) with two Railway Companies operating the vehicles (Transdev and VR).

Assignment Description:

The assignment concerns a senior project manager with overall responsibility for both the conclusion of the existing delivery project for 60 ER1/Dosto vehicles in operation, and the procurement of 13 new option vehicles. The project manager's main focus is on the option vehicles, which are in the design phase and are planned to move into production in 2027.

The project manager reports to the sponsor and steering committee and leads the project management group and the project organization's collective work.

The project manager is responsible for leading the option vehicle project through design, production, testing, approval, and delivery, as well as for the project's control and progress regarding time, cost, quality, technology, testing and verification, risk, and change and configuration management.

The project manager leads the supplier and the project's resources with support from the contract and monitors the project's requirements and deliveries. The role includes reporting status, risks, finances, and decision needs to the sponsor and steering committee, as well as collaboration with vehicle management, lessees, traffic operators, maintainers, and other relevant parties.

The project manager continues to have overall responsibility for concluding the existing delivery project and ensuring an orderly handover to vehicle management. The operational work of closing outstanding issues and preparing the handover is largely led by the project's assistant project manager.

Organization:

Reporting is to the project's steering committee, as well as Transitio's Sponsor and Vehicle Manager for ER1.

Work Equipment for Assignments at AB Transitio:

The resource/supplier is responsible for the necessary work equipment related to the assignment.

AB Transitio cannot provide a workspace for the resource. Ongoing project work and coordination can take place as needed at AB Transitio's office in Stockholm, but most coordination can be done via online meetings and/or phone/email.

Requirements

All mandatory requirements must be substantiated with examples from previous role(s).

Personal Qualities:

End Date: 2027-12-31

Scope: The assignment will require 100% of a full-time position.

• Relevant university education or equivalent documented work experience, >5 years
• At least five years of experience in project management within railway vehicles, including delivery, procurement, or major conversion projects.
• Documented experience in leading complex project organizations with multiple technical and commercial sub-areas.
• Experience in supplier management, contract monitoring, and negotiation in large technical delivery projects.
• Good understanding of railway vehicles and the processes required to go from design to production, testing, approval, and delivery.
• Very good communication skills, spoken and written, in Swedish and English
• Experience as a project manager for the delivery of new railway vehicles through the design and production phases.
• Experience with ER1/Dosto vehicles or comparable modern railway vehicles.
• Knowledge of quality, testing and verification, change and configuration management, and relevant regulations for railway vehicles.
• Experience and understanding of AB Transitio's business model and AB Transitio's lessees and their subcontractors.
• Knowledge of German, spoken and written.
• Very good leadership and collaboration skills
• Good planning and coordination skills
• Ability to work independently and structured with a high degree of responsibility.

Project details

Mälardalen (Stockholm/Västerås/Eskilstuna) but many meetings take place via Teams. Meetings and visits to the depot in Eskilstuna and at Finnslätten will occur regularly. Travel to the supplier in Switzerland and other travel in Europe may also be included in the role.

Compensation Form: Running account

Option: 6+6 months

Contractual Terms:

Terms for the assignment will be based on Ework's framework agreement with the client, which applies ABK 09 with certain deviations.
