For our client, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager – Feasibility Study Smarter Production IT/OT/AI

Assignment Description

The client is seeking a senior project manager to lead and conduct a feasibility study for 2-3 months within the initiative "Smarter and more efficient Production through IT/OT and AI". The feasibility study shall clarify the current situation, target image, prioritized use cases, prerequisites, and recommended way forward, as well as provide a well-founded decision basis for potential implementation.

The project manager is responsible for structuring and driving the feasibility study, coordinating relevant stakeholders within production, operations, and IT, and identifying scope, dependencies, risks, resource needs, cost structure, potential benefits, and a proposal for an implementation plan. The work takes place in an uncertain and exploratory environment with many stakeholders.

After the feasibility study is completed, a decision will be made regarding continued execution. If the feasibility study is approved, there is an option to extend the assignment with responsibility for leading the implementation according to the decided direction, including introduction, deployment, and handover to operations and management.

Work Tasks

Competence Requirements

• Establish the setup, goals, scope, deliverables, working methods, timeline, and governance for the feasibility study.
• Map the current situation, needs, opportunities, and problem areas within production, as well as relevant IT, OT, data, and AI prerequisites.
• Lead workshops and create progress in cross-functional teams within production and IT.
• Identify and prioritize use cases based on business value, feasibility, risk, and dependencies.
• Develop the target image and recommended way forward, including scope, roadmap, resource needs, cost structure, and preliminary implementation plan.
• Assess prerequisites within areas such as architecture, information/IT security, data availability, integrations, and operational changes.
• Establish relevant governance and decision forums, and present status, progress, risks, choices, and decision points to a senior steering group.
• Ensure compliance with the client's project model and applicable guidelines.
• Compile a clear decision basis with recommendations on implementation, priorities, benefits, risks, and next steps.
• If the feasibility study is approved and the option is exercised: lead the execution according to the decided direction, including planning, change management, introduction, deployment, benefit realization, and handover to operations/management."

Requirements

Experience:

System Requirements

Ability to work with common project and collaboration tools. Understanding of industrial OT/process data systems, data platforms, AI/analytics solutions, visualization, and integration between OT and IT is meritorious.

Certification/Education

Academic degree or equivalent competence. Relevant project management certification, such as PMP, PRINCE2, or IPMA, is meritorious but not a requirement. Education or documented experience in production/process industry is highly meritorious.

• Competence in at least one of the areas: production, AI, or Data. Production is highly prioritized.
• Ability to follow the client's project model and ensure compliance with guidelines within areas such as architecture and security.
• Typically 7–10 years of experience in project management.
• Documented experience in leading large and complex cross-functional projects with a clear impact on the business.
• Requirement: experience from production, process industry, manufacturing, or equivalent operational industrial environment.
• Experience with assignments from idea/exploration through pilot and introduction to deployment and handover.
• Experience in driving progress across multiple organizational boundaries and between Operations/production, business, and IT.
• Experience with steering group work, decision basis, risk reporting, and escalation.
• Meritorious: experience with AI, advanced analytics, data/information platforms, OT/IT integration, or predictive maintenance/predictive process control.
• Confident and driven in unclear, changing, and exploratory contexts.
• Structured, pragmatic, and results-oriented.
• Very good communication skills and high integrity.
• Relationship-building and trust-inspiring, especially towards Operations/production.
• Skilled at navigating a complex organization without losing pace.
• Courage to define scope, prioritize, highlight risks, and request decisions.
• Ability to foster accountability and keep cross-functional teams focused on common goals.

Project details

Stockholm. Requirement for presence at the client's office in Norrköping for a few days at the start, then at least one day every other week.

Languages: Swedish and English
