For a long-term modernization project at a company in the heavy industry sector, we are looking for an experienced freelance Senior Project Manager (m/f/d).

As part of a complex brownfield project, an existing process engineering production plant will be comprehensively modernized. Experience with surface treatment, pickling, electroplating, or comparable chemical process engineering plants is a significant advantage for this project.

The project is currently in the preparation and tendering phase. The technical specification is available in a preliminary version and is to be optimized in the further course of the project.

We are looking for a strong-willed Senior Project Manager who can structure complex technical investment and modernization projects, manage interdisciplinary project teams, and consistently track agreed-upon services with internal and external project stakeholders.

Tasks / Scope of Services

Project management of a complex brownfield modernization project

Structuring and management of further project preparation

Coordination of interdisciplinary technical departments

Management and tracking of internal and external project stakeholders

Further development and quality assurance of technical specifications

Support in evaluating technical offers and awarding contracts

Coordination of interfaces between mechanical/plant engineering, process engineering, pipeline construction, steel/concrete construction, and electrical/automation engineering

Schedule, cost, quality, and risk management

Preparation and support of internal investment and approval processes

Preparation of the subsequent implementation phase

Planning and coordination of measures during defined plant shutdowns

Regular project and management reporting

Requirements

Several years of experience in managing complex, large-scale technical projects

Demonstrable experience with brownfield, revamp, or modernization projects

Experience in leading interdisciplinary project teams

Technical background, preferably in mechanical engineering, process engineering, production engineering, or comparable fields

Experience with surface treatment, pickling, electroplating, or comparable plants is a significant advantage

Alternatively, relevant project experience in the steel/metal industry, chemical, petrochemical, refinery, or comparable process industries

Experience with process engineering plants, pipeline construction, and related trades

Experience with production shutdowns / shutdowns / turnarounds is an advantage

Strong assertiveness and communication skills

Confident stakeholder and supplier management

Very good German and English language skills

Planned long-term, approximately 18+ months

Northern Germany

On-site: approx. 4 days per week
