Job description

As a Project Manager/Scrum Master, you will coordinate the IT systems communication between 8 ministries, focusing on the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and guiding the Servicebus Integration team in Den Haag. You will be responsible for technical and operational aspects, ensuring smooth integration of new methodologies and protecting the team from high pressure.

Project overview

Assignment Description

How do you ensure that the IT systems of 8 ministries, in your case specifically BuZA, where 50,000 civil servants work daily, communicate professionally with each other? Exactly, through good IT architecture, such as an enterprise service bus. As a coordinator, you face a great challenge. The Servicebus Integration team in The Hague wants to develop significantly in the coming years. It is your task to provide direction for this. Together with the team manager, you will draw up an annual plan. And although you are not responsible for the team in HR terms, you are responsible in technical and operational terms.

You ensure that work is carried out according to agreements, regularly coordinate with the architect, and consult with project leaders. In short: you are an important link between the client and the team.

Our work is regularly under a magnifying glass, and high demands are therefore placed on ICT services. This means that the workload can sometimes increase rapidly. Here, as a coordinator, you also have a role as the guardian and protector of the team.

Within the Servicebus Integration team, you will deal with two streams: the developers and administrators who follow the old way of working, and the DevOps and agile administrators and developers who work in the new way. This sometimes causes tension. As a coordinator, you ensure that the new way of working is properly integrated into the team.

If you and your team deliver good work, no one will notice that you are there. And that is positive. Your team, as it were, provides the lubricant that keeps the radars between different systems within the ministries running.

We do not expect in-depth technical knowledge from you, but we do assume that you conceptually understand how an enterprise service bus (ESB) works and why it is so important. At the moment, we still work with many different service buses.

The Enterprise Integration Solutions team develops systems according to the Devops methodology. Message flows are essential within these environments!

The Enterprise Integration Solutions Team is part of the Business Unit IT Application Services (BAS) within one of the three Business Units of SSC-ICT and has the main task of providing services that meet the unique needs of one or a few clients. Such services are often related to one specific primary process of that client and thus have limited potential to be offered to multiple clients.

Background Assignment SSC-ICT

To continue serving our ministries well, we want to develop further. We do this in interaction with our clients, the ministries. Because we are the ICT service provider of and for the State, and are proud of our public task and the large-scale projects that matter.

The Origin of SSC-ICT

At the beginning of this millennium, all ministries managed their own ICT workplaces for their civil servants independently. To create one efficient and uniform line for these services, the various ICT organizations bundled their activities. Over the years, there have been various compositions and names, but SSC-ICT has been a fact since 2014.

Where are we now?

SSC-ICT has grown into an organization of approximately 1,200 employees and contributes to a modern public service with secure, flexible, and effective ICT services. We provide these services to the following ministries:

ICT must always be available and is increasingly crucial for the primary processes of these ministries. Our state colleagues work at different locations and on different devices: via desktop and laptop, but also on tablet and smartphone. Speed and flexibility are becoming increasingly important. Providing ICT for and with the State is a challenging task. The field of work is diverse, and security requirements are high.

Where are we heading?

SSC-ICT is growing into one organization with one face. We continue to work on a transparent approach and optimal service delivery: standard where possible, custom where necessary. The ministries rely on our secure, reliable ICT services that are always available. The goal: to deliver stable ICT services in a rapidly changing digital world.

"We do this by working together, learning from each other, focusing on the user experience, and especially by enjoying our work!"
