For the municipality of Waddinxveen, we are looking for a project manager for 28 hours per week.

The position

For the municipality of Waddinxveen, we are looking for a project manager for 28 hours per week – (16-20 hours for the MFA, 8-12 hours for the sports hall).

The coming period will focus on conducting a feasibility study and, based on its outcomes, concretizing ambitions and preparing decision-making regarding the further realization of both the MFA and the sports hall. For this, they are looking for a project manager who can maintain an overview, bring parties together, and is capable of translating complex substantive, financial, and organizational issues into a clear and substantiated proposal for decision-making.

Your role

Waddinxveen is growing rapidly. From approximately 25,000 inhabitants a few years ago to 45,000 inhabitants in about 10 years. This brings a major challenge regarding social facilities. There is a challenge to ensure sufficient educational housing, sports facilities, arts & culture offerings, and primary healthcare & welfare services. They are tackling this challenge within the social facilities program. From ambition to a supported and feasible implementation plan.

For the development of a new multifunctional accommodation (sports hall, expansion of a secondary school, and possibly a cultural center) and a new sports hall combined with a community center function, they are looking for an experienced project manager to support the municipality in the definition phase of both projects. On behalf of the municipality, you will be the connecting force between the executive board, administrative organization, users, social partners, and any external advisors. Regarding the MFA, your work falls within the De Dreef area development.

Therefore, you will collaborate with the area development project manager. You do not need to have all the substantive expertise yourself. However, you know which expertise is needed, you organize it, and you ensure that the different disciplines come together in one integral result. You are capable of: Working from ambition → to program → to feasibility → to an executive decision. You can easily switch between strategic, tactical, and operational levels. You understand the administrative context of a municipal project and know when to delve deeper, when to accelerate, and when a choice or decision is needed.

About the company

The municipality of Waddinxveen is a dynamic and rapidly growing municipality in the province of South Holland, located on the river Gouwe and near Gouda. The municipality has over 35,500 inhabitants. Waddinxveen combines a central location in the Randstad with the tranquility and character of a close-knit dike village, originally established in the 13th century as a peat reclamation. The municipality is particularly known for its iconic bascule bridge from 1936, but historically also for its furniture makers and stroopwafel bakeries.

Thanks to large-scale new construction projects, such as the popular Park Triangel district, the municipality attracts many new residents. Nevertheless, Waddinxveen values its social character, green spaces (such as the Gouwebos and the nature reserve 't Weegje), and the active involvement of its residents.

What you bring

They are looking for an experienced project manager who is accustomed to guiding complex social real estate challenges in a municipal context.

You have demonstrable experience with the initiative and/or definition phase of social real estate, preferably with multifunctional accommodations, schools, sports facilities, and/or community centers involving multiple uses.
