Python Developer / Data Scientist – Mathematical Optimization

For an exciting project with our client, we are looking for an experienced Python Developer / Data Scientist (m/f/d) with a focus on mathematical modeling, optimization algorithms, and Operations Research.

The goal of the project is the further development of an existing optimization use case for the efficient dispatching of vehicle drivers.

Responsibilities

• Further development of an existing optimization use case in the area of vehicle driver dispatching
• Development and implementation of mathematical models and optimization algorithms
• Definition and implementation of rules and constraints for optimal vehicle driver dispatching
• Development of high-performance Python-based solutions for data analysis and mathematical optimization
• Analysis of complex data structures and derivation of suitable optimization approaches
• Validation, testing, and continuous improvement of existing algorithms and models
• Close collaboration with business departments to implement business requirements

• At least 1.5 years of practical experience in software development with Python
• Very good knowledge of Python, especially Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy
• Sound knowledge in the field of Data Science
• Experience in mathematical modeling, mathematical optimization, or Operations Research
• Analytical thinking skills and experience in solving complex optimization problems
• Good German language skills for project communication
• Experience with optimization solvers such as HiGHS, Gurobi, CPLEX, or CBC
• Knowledge of optimization frameworks like Pyomo, PuLP, or Google OR-Tools
• Experience with Linear Programming (LP) and Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP)
• Experience in the development and optimization of mathematical algorithms
• Knowledge in Model Validation & Testing
• Ideally, experience with dispatching, resource planning, or scheduling systems
