SAM / License Management Process Expert in ServiceNow Environment – Support in Presales

Project overview

For one of our clients, we are looking for an experienced Software Asset Management and License Management expert to support a presales discussion. The focus is on the functional design of the processes. Process understanding is paramount, with ServiceNow knowledge complementing the profile.

Initial Situation

A SAM implementation in the ServiceNow environment is currently underway at the end client. Defined processes for Software Asset Management and License Management do not yet exist. Our client is supporting the project on the process side and wants to conduct a functional deep dive with the end client together with an expert.

Tasks in the First Assignment

Preparation and participation in an approximately 90-minute German-language presales and deep dive discussion

Recording the initial situation and targeted clarification of the functional need for action

Explanation of essential SAM and License Management processes along the software lifecycle: demand, procurement, deployment, usage, license reconciliation, and reclamation

Classification of required responsibilities, interfaces, and data sources

Demonstration of how these processes can be supported and mapped within the ServiceNow environment

Derivation of initial recommendations for action and possible next steps

Profile Sought

In-depth practical experience in the conception and implementation of SAM and License Management processes

Solid understanding of the interplay between software inventory, usage data, license rights, and contracts

Experience with roles, responsibilities, and interfaces between IT, purchasing, contract management, and business departments

Knowledge of ServiceNow SAM and its process integration within a ServiceNow landscape

Ability to structure a functional deep dive, ask the right questions, and explain complex relationships understandably

Experience in customer workshops, consulting, or presales

Very good German language skills

Expected Outcome

A shared understanding of the required processes, key gaps, and a sensible course of action. The initial assignment focuses on functional consulting and defining the scope of a potential follow-up project.

Perspective: With successful presales, a concrete follow-up assignment is possible at the beginning of 2027. The expert can then accompany the design and implementation of the processes together with our client.
