For upcoming modernization projects in the mid-sized business sector, we are looking for experienced SAP Integration Architects (m/f/d) for our expert pool.

A typical project looks like this:

Starting Situation

A legacy business application is being modernized and migrated to Google Cloud. It exchanges master data, documents, and postings with the customer's SAP system (ECC or S/4HANA, on-premise, RISE, or Public Cloud), previously via legacy RFC, IDoc, and file interfaces. The goal is interfaces via released APIs and Business Events, compliant with Clean Core and designed to withstand an S/4HANA transition. Custom developments within SAP remain the responsibility of the customer or their SAP partner.

You will be responsible for the SAP side of the interfaces in discovery and interface design; an integration architect will be responsible for the application and cloud side.

Job facts: Direct client project

• In the discovery phase, document the customer's SAP landscape: release, operating model, activated gateways and APIs, existing interfaces and enhancements
• For each data object, identify the appropriate released API, BAPI, or Business Event from the SAP Business Accelerator Hub and check feasibility
• Define the integration path (SAP Integration Suite, Cloud Connector, API Management, Event Mesh) and coordinate with the customer's basis and authorization team
• Create an interface catalog: fields, volume estimates, error and retry behavior, technical user and roles, customer responsibilities
• Classify licensing and policy issues (SAP API Policy, indirect usage, Digital Access) and identify risks
• Ensure Clean Core compliance and assess the impact of an upcoming S/4HANA transition on the interfaces
• Plan and support integration tests together with the integration architect and the customer's SAP team
• Document decisions and represent them to the customer and SAP partner
• At least 8 years of SAP experience, with at least 4 years as an integration or interface architect between SAP and non-SAP applications
• Practical experience with released OData APIs and Business Events in S/4HANA, as well as with BAPI, RFC, and IDoc in ECC
• Experience with SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management) or SAP PI/PO and the Cloud Connector
• Knowledge of Clean Core, SAP API Policy, and the licensing topics of indirect usage and Digital Access
• Fluent German, good English
• Certification in SAP Integration Suite, SAP Enterprise Architect (P_SAPEA), or equivalent
• Experience with S/4HANA transformations (Brownfield, Greenfield, RISE) in the mid-sized business sector
• Google Cloud or another Public Cloud as the counterpart (Pub/Sub, Apigee, Cloud Run)
• Ability to read ABAP to evaluate custom developments and enhancements
• Data extraction to BigQuery (e.g., Google Cortex Framework) and reporting interfaces
• Collaboration in agile, distributed teams
• Assignment: predominantly remote, occasional on-site appointments in DACH
• Duration: typically 4 to 6 months, extension possible
• Utilization: 80 to 100 percent
