SAP IS-U / S/4HANA Utilities Consultant (IM4G, MaKo) | Dresden, 75% remote

Project overview

For a large-scale transformation program in the energy industry, we are looking for an experienced SAP consultant for SAP S/4HANA Utilities (SAP IS-U). The focus is on the implementation and SAP customizing of S/4HANA Utilities, including integration with MaCo Cloud (Market Communication Cloud) and MKV Cloud (Measurement Concept Management).

The goal is to modernize processes related to Device Management, Market Communication (MaKo), iM4G (Intelligent Metering for Germany), and measurement processes – for the market roles Distribution Network Operator (VNB) and Metering Point Operator (MSB). We are looking for a freelancer at the Senior Consultant level who can independently deliver from Fit/Gap analysis and functional concept to customizing and test support.

The project is divided into clearly defined work packages with concrete deliverables and runs from November 2026 to October 2027 with an utilization of three days per week. Collaboration will be predominantly remote with occasional on-site assignments.

Responsibilities

• Fit/Gap Analysis and Process Review
• Structured Fit/Gap analysis of SAP S/4HANA Utilities standard functionality against customer-specific requirements for Device Management, iM4G processes, and Market Communication (MaKo)
• Evaluation of current processes based on an independent review of process documentation and stakeholder input
• Written analysis report with process summary, identified gaps, impact analysis, delta requirements, and improvement recommendations
• Preparation of results as a basis for decision-making for the Device Management, iM4G, and MaKo process areas
• Solution Design and Functional Concept
• Creation of an independent functional concept (functional specification) for device management processes and market role-specific workflows (VNB/MSB)
• Conception of integration scenarios with MaCo Cloud and MKV Cloud
• Documentation of solution overview, data and process flows, integration dependencies, assumptions, and limitations based on the delta requirements from the Fit/Gap analysis
• Coordination and approval of the solution design document (Word or PDF) with the designated contact person of the client
• Implementation and Customizing
• Implementation of the approved solution design through SAP customizing and configuration in S/4HANA Utilities, MaCo Cloud, and MKV Cloud
• Ensuring that all customizing activities comply with the approved solution design
• Technical documentation of all customizing activities, including system, module, and transaction references
• Provision of complete and consistent system settings as a basis for entering the test phase
• Test Support
• Independent identification, analysis, and resolution of errors within the implemented scope during the test phases
• Documentation in the error tracking tool with error description, root cause analysis, applied correction, and solution status
• Traceable assignment of all corrections to the implemented scope
• Resolution of critical errors within the agreed response and resolution times
• Coordination and Working Method
• Clarification of deliverables and feedback with the designated contact person of the client
• Results-oriented project (Time & Material): Method, type, timing, and sequence of service provision are determined independently
