SAP S/4HANA Data Migration Stream Lead

Project overview

For our client in Hamburg, we are currently looking for an SAP S/4HANA Data Migration Stream Lead on a freelance basis.

Responsibilities

• Strategy & Planning: Development and management of the migration strategy, object inventory, and integrated plan across all SAP Activate phases and MOVE waves in SAP Cloud ALM.
• Data Quality & Cleansing: Definition of quality rules and release criteria with the business departments, as well as management of data profiling, cleansing, and de-duplication.
• Mapping & Transformation: Supervision of field mapping, transformation, and S/4HANA standardization (e.g., Business Partner, Universal Journal) in collaboration with the technical streams.
• Testing & Cycles: Planning and execution of mock migrations, integration tests, dress rehearsals, and the final load including reconciliation and business approvals.
• Cutover & Stream Leadership: Responsibility for the cutover runbook, leadership of the migration team, command center reporting, and proactive risk and escalation management.

Requirements

• Experience: 5-8+ years of practical experience in SAP data migration, including leading at least one complex SAP S/4HANA implementation or a multi-country rollout.
• Profound hands-on knowledge in migration planning, data profiling, cleansing, mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and cutover execution.
• Profound knowledge of SAP Migration Cockpit (LTMC/LTMOM or current equivalents) as well as SAP Cloud ALM.
• SAP Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of S/4HANA core objects and cross-functional dependencies (Finance, OtC, PtP, Logistics, Business Partner).
• Soft Skills: Proven leadership skills, structured problem-solving ability, risk management, and strong stakeholder management skills on both business and technical sides.

• Experience with SAP Data Services / BODS or comparable ETL tools.
• Experience with international rollouts, heterogeneous legacy system ERPs, Data Governance/MDG, audit-compliant controls, and hypercare/stabilization after go-live.
• Location: Hamburg and remote (50% each)
• Start: asap
• Duration: 6 months+
• Utilization: 4 days/week
• Remote share: approx. 50% (every two weeks)
• Language skills: German and English (fluent)
