SAP S/4HANA Master Data Manager / Migration Lead

Project overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Master Data & Migration Lead (m/f/d) to coordinate and drive local master data activities as part of a major SAP R/3 to SAP S/4HANA transformation program.

In this role, you will ensure that all local data migration activities are delivered in line with an established SAP S/4HANA template while acting as the key interface between business stakeholders and the central project team.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all local master data activities within the project
• Plan and oversee data cleansing, mapping, migration, and validation activities
• Ensure data quality across material, customer, vendor, and other relevant master data objects
• Collaborate with business departments and central project teams on data extracts, mapping rules, and issue resolution
• Manage data dependencies across procurement, manufacturing, logistics, sales, and invoicing
• Coordinate mock migrations, testing cycles, cutover activities, and final data loads
• Identify and escalate risks, data gaps, and decisions requiring stakeholder input
• Define clear responsibilities and ownership for local data contributors and reviewers
• Ensure compliance with project governance and template standards
• Transfer knowledge and outstanding responsibilities to internal teams at project completion

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Master Data Manager, Migration Lead, or SAP Data Migration Consultant
• Hands-on experience in SAP R/3 or SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA migration projects
• Strong understanding of material master, customer master, vendor master, and business partner structures
• Experience leading cross-functional data migration workstreams
• Ability to effectively coordinate business and IT stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of data quality management, cleansing, validation, and migration processes
• Experience supporting testing, mock migrations, cutover activities, and go-live preparation
• Experience within manufacturing or other product-oriented industries is highly desirable
• Ability to translate centrally defined requirements into actionable local delivery plans
• Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent German and English language skills

Nice to have

• Experience with international SAP rollouts
• Knowledge of SAP Migration Cockpit or similar migration tools
• Experience within Manufacturing, FMCG, or Supply Chain environments
• Experience working within global SAP template programs
• Understanding of Master Data Governance principles

Project details

Location & Travel

The project is based in Mattersburg (Burgenland), approximately one hour from Vienna by car. The assignment is therefore particularly suitable for consultants located in Vienna and the surrounding Eastern Austrian region.
