Project overview

Are you an experienced IT infrastructure architect with strong security expertise looking for a challenging, long-term project? For our client, a leading IT service provider, we are looking for a Senior Architect in the context of a customer project in the defense industry to be responsible for the further development and redesign of complex enterprise infrastructure landscapes.

You will evaluate existing system landscapes, develop future-proof target architectures, and support technical direction decisions. Thanks to your many years of experience, you will translate functional and IT requirements into scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant infrastructure solutions.

• Project duration: 01.11.2026 – 30.06.2027
• Volume: Full-time
• Location: Germany
• Remote: almost 100% (on-site presence only sporadically for specific topics, approx. 2x per year)
• Conception, design, and continuous further development of enterprise IT infrastructure architectures
• Definition of technical architecture concepts, standards, and solution designs for infrastructure environments
• Evaluation of existing IT infrastructure landscapes and identification of modernization and improvement potentials
• Design of secure and resilient infrastructure solutions, taking into account strict security requirements
• Provision of architecture guidance across infrastructure, platform, and security topics
• Evaluation of technical solutions and creation of recommendations on architecture, integration, scalability, security, and operational feasibility
• Support with technical decisions and translation of business and IT requirements into suitable infrastructure solutions
• Collaboration with client stakeholders, subject matter experts, engineering teams, and other architects
• Ensuring architectural consistency across all relevant infrastructure domains
• Review of technical concepts and identification of architectural, infrastructure, and security risks
• Support during the implementation and further development of infrastructure solutions as a Senior Architecture SME
• Creation and maintenance of architecture documentation, technical concepts, and recommendations for action
• Willingness for security screening

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure architecture or closely related infrastructure roles
• Experience working with complex enterprise IT environments
• Strong background in IT infrastructure architecture
• Profound knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure architecture
• Experience in designing complex infrastructure solutions and technical architectures
• Understanding of infrastructure security principles and security-by-design concepts
• Profound experience with enterprise infrastructures in several of the following areas:
• Compute / Server Infrastructure
• Virtualization
• Cloud and/or Hybrid Infrastructure
• Storage
• Networking
• Identity & Access Concepts
• Backup & Disaster Recovery
• High Availability & Resilience
• Infrastructure Monitoring & Operations
• Evaluation of existing IT landscapes and development of target architecture concepts
• Creation of clear architecture documentation and understandable communication of technical designs
• Experience in cross-domain work and coordination of technical dependencies

Nice to have

• Previous experience with clients in the Defense, Public Sector, Critical Infrastructure (KRITIS), or other highly regulated environments
• Experience with demanding enterprise security and compliance requirements
• Relevant certifications in the areas of architecture, infrastructure, cloud, or security
• Existing security clearance is an advantage (not mandatory)
