Your role

As Security & Privacy Manager, you will provide direction for the digital security of the UMCG. You will play a key role in one of the largest digital transformations within Dutch healthcare.

You are responsible for connecting security, privacy, legislation, and digital innovation. You will not only have an advisory role but also the authority to actually implement changes.

More specifically

No day is the same. One day you will discuss the impact of new European legislation, the next day you will contribute to AI applications in healthcare or manage an audit or certification process. You will not only have an advisory role but also the mandate to get changes actually implemented.

Why this role is unique

The UMCG is in the midst of a major digital transformation. Investments are being made in data-driven work, modern healthcare technology, cloud platforms, regional data exchange, and AI. At the same time, the demands regarding cybersecurity, privacy, and digital resilience are increasing.

You play a key role in this.

In this role, you will work closely with, among others, the CIO, CISO, privacy experts, architects, product managers, and technical specialists. You will advise on strategic choices and ensure that innovations are realized securely, responsibly, and future-proof.

Who will you work with?

You will work at Data & Digitalization (D&D), where hundreds of colleagues are building the digital future of the UMCG. We support the daily care processes of thousands of employees and work on innovations that are changing healthcare in the Northern Netherlands and beyond.

Within the D&D Compliance team, you will collaborate with specialists in cybersecurity, privacy, contract management, and risk management.

You will have a lot of freedom and responsibility to shape your role. The lines of communication are short, the impact is significant, and your work is visibly important for patients, colleagues, and partners.

Job requirements

What you bring

You are energized by complex issues and can guide people through change at a strategic, tactical, and operational level. You are curious about new developments in AI, cybersecurity, and digital innovation and translate these into practical solutions for the organization.

Furthermore, you have:

Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CIPP are a plus.

Employment conditions

You will work at the UMCG through Randstad Digital on a secondment basis.

This is a regular temporary position. Freelance engagement is not desired.

• You will be the director of the Integral Security & Privacy Plan.
• You will ensure that the UMCG complies with legislation such as GDPR and NIS2.
• You will translate developments in AI, cloud, and digitalization into appropriate security and privacy measures.
• You will manage certifications such as NEN7510, ISO27001, and ISO27701.
• You will guide audits, pentests, and security assessments.
• You will advise management and the board on digital risks and opportunities.
• You will strengthen security awareness within the organization.
• You will collaborate with teams building the healthcare innovations of tomorrow.
• Bachelor's or Master's work and thinking level; in IT, law, security management, or a comparable field.
• At least five years of experience in privacy and/or information security.
• Knowledge of GDPR, NIS2, ISO27001, and NEN7510.
• Experience with governance, audits, and risk management.
• Strong advisory and listening skills.
• Persuasiveness and sensitivity to the board.
• A gross monthly salary up to € 6,825 based on 36 hours per week (scale 11 CAO UMC).
• As of May 1, 2027, the maximum of the scale will be increased to € 7,064 gross per month.
• A temporary assignment from November 16, 2026, to June 30, 2027.
• A 36-hour work week.
• Hybrid working: three days on location in Groningen and one day at home.
