Senior Adobe AEM Forms Developer

Responsibilities

For our client, a leading company in the insurance sector, we are looking for an experienced Adobe AEM Forms Developer / Engineer for the further development and modernization of a business-critical eForms platform.

The focus is on replacing an existing Java EE-based process engine with a modern, scalable, and maintainable architecture. The platform handles core functions such as digital form processing, data pre-filling, PDF generation, email communication, and integration with various external systems.

In addition to the technical redesign of the platform, you will be responsible for the stable and secure operation of the existing AEM Forms landscape together with the team.

Operation & Maintenance of Adobe AEM Forms

• Analysis of existing JEE processes, system architectures, and technical dependencies
• Conception and implementation of a modern architecture to replace the existing JEE process engine
• Evaluation of suitable technologies and solution approaches, especially AEM OSGi, Flowable, and AEM standard functions
• Development of central services for form processing, submission, queueing, auditing, pre-filling, and PDF generation
• Conception and implementation of interfaces to CRM, Kafka, ECM, and other external systems
• Setup and further development of monitoring, health checks, and technical dashboards
• Ensuring a scalable, performant, and maintainable solution architecture
• Migration of existing forms and processes to the new platform
• Setup and automation of build and deployment processes using Jenkins and CI/CD
• Development and execution of automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Ensuring stable parallel operation during migration
• Support of go-lives and gradual replacement of the previous JEE infrastructure
• Creation of technical documentation and knowledge transfer
• Ensuring the stable operation of the existing eForms platform
• Analysis and resolution of incidents, as well as processing and resubmission of failed forms
• Performing regular system, security, and quality checks
• Analysis and remediation of vulnerabilities using SonarQube, Qualys, and other security tools
• Installation and validation of Adobe hotfixes and service packs
• Performing operating system and infrastructure upgrades on Windows and Linux servers
• Performance optimization, error analysis, and continuous improvement of system stability

Requirements

• Several years of experience in the development and technical operation of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM Forms)
• Profound knowledge of Java, Java EE (JEE), and OSGi
• Experience with the development and integration of complex backend services and APIs
• Good knowledge of integrating external systems via REST, messaging, or comparable interface technologies
• Experience with the migration and modernization of existing enterprise applications
• Knowledge of CI/CD, Jenkins, and automated testing procedures
• Experience in operating and troubleshooting applications on Linux and Windows servers
• Good understanding of IT security, system monitoring, and performance optimization
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working
• Experience with Flowable, BPMN, or comparable workflow engines (nice-to-have)
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures (nice-to-have)
• Experience with Adobe AEM Forms JEE and its migration to more modern architectures (nice-to-have)
• Knowledge of SonarQube, Qualys, and security scanning (nice-to-have)
• Experience with PDF generation, dynamic forms, and pre-filling processes (nice-to-have)
• Experience with databases, messaging, and queueing systems (nice-to-have)
