Senior Business Analyst / Data Steward

Project overview

For a demanding environment in the insurance industry, we are looking for an experienced individual as a Business Analyst / Data Steward with at least 7 years of professional experience. In this versatile role, you will also take on the role of Product Owner (PO) within the same team in the short to medium term.

In the medium term, your focus will be on business analysis and data stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Collection, analysis, and definition of business requirements for data products and reports
• Creation and maintenance of business documentation, Q&As, and supporting tools
• Investigation and analysis of data using SQL and identification of data relationships
• Definition of data quality rules and metrics in collaboration with the Product Owner
• Conducting business clarifications on data products, data replications, and data contracts
• Description, documentation, and maintenance of business metadata
• Interface function between business departments, system architecture, and development teams
• Contribution of business requirements to data value creation
• Conducting business analyses and requirements engineering
• Business review and validation of data models
• Short to medium-term assumption of classic Product Owner tasks in a scaled agile organization according to SAFe

Requirements

Your personal strengths:

General framework conditions:

• At least 7 years of professional experience at an expert level in a relevant field
• Sound understanding of insurance domains, particularly policy administration and sales, including business processes, data flows, and data foundations
• Proven experience in the collection, analysis, and documentation of business requirements
• Knowledge of data quality, data contracts, and metadata management
• Experience working with Power BI
• Knowledge of Databricks, Oracle DB, Azure SQL, and SQL
• Experience collaborating with business departments, IT, and agile development teams
• Very good written and spoken German and English, especially for collaboration with international and offshore teams
• Strong analytical thinking skills and a structured, independent way of working
• Strong communication skills and the ability to mediate between business and IT
• Skill in coordinating different stakeholders and consolidating various requirements
• High quality awareness and a strong sense of responsibility in handling data
• Team-oriented approach and enjoyment of collaboration with development and enabling teams
