Senior Database Engineer (Oracle / PostgreSQL) – Data Migration & Modernization

For a long-term IT project in the Frankfurt area, we are looking for an experienced database specialist with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL.

The project includes the technological further development of a complex database and application landscape. A significant component is the step-by-step transfer of existing Oracle structures into a PostgreSQL-based environment.

Your Tasks in the Project

Technical support for the transformation of existing Oracle databases into a PostgreSQL environment

Conception of suitable migration methods, considering data quality, consistency, and performance

Development and optimization of sophisticated SQL and PL/SQL components

Revision of existing database structures and further development of relational data models

Support in the development of backend services and their integration into existing system landscapes

Design of efficient data flows and interfaces between different applications and platforms

Implementation and further development of data processing procedures for operational systems, reporting, and analytics

Participation in the technological modernization of cloud-based applications

Evaluation of technical solution options regarding maintainability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness

What You Bring

Requirements

Many years of practical experience in the development and optimization of relational databases

In-depth knowledge of Oracle, especially SQL and PL/SQL

Sound experience with PostgreSQL

Proficient handling of data modeling and complex database structures

Knowledge of modern backend technologies and service-oriented software architectures

Practical experience with cloud infrastructures, containerization, Docker, and Kubernetes

Experience in the conception and implementation of data integrations and data pipelines

Python skills in the context of data processing and analysis

Experience with high-performance and highly available IT systems

Independent and solution-oriented way of working

Strong analytical understanding and the ability to grasp complex technical contexts

Very good communication skills

German language skills at C2 level
