Senior Developer GIS Applications

Project overview

Further development and customizing of a GIS platform based on IQGeo Network Manager.

Background

An experienced Senior Developer is sought for a demanding development project in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The focus is on customizing and individually extending an existing GIS platform based on IQGeo Network Manager.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of business requirements and processes to identify necessary extensions of the existing GIS platform
• Development of technical solution concepts for implementing individual requirements based on IQGeo Network Manager
• Customizing and configuration of existing GIS functionalities to map specific business requirements
• Conception and development of individual software components and backend functionalities using Python
• New development and realization of existing custom functionalities based on the current platform architecture
• Development and integration of additional add-ons and plugins for functional extension of the GIS application
• Creation of technical specifications from business requirements and defined objectives
• Analysis and evaluation of existing software architectures regarding extensibility, functionality, and technical integration capability
• Realization and integration of new tools for mapping company-specific use cases
• Execution of technical tests to validate developed functions, extensions, and interfaces
• Documentation of technical concepts, development decisions, and software extensions using Jira and Confluence
• Technical consulting for the implementation of business requirements and for the targeted further development of the GIS platform

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant project experience in software development, ideally in the GIS environment
• Sound knowledge of Python
• Experience in the development, adaptation, and extension of GIS applications
• Experience in customizing standard software and in developing individual software components
• Knowledge in backend development and integration of technical components
• Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical concepts and specifications
• Experience with Jira and Confluence for technical documentation and tracking of development requirements
• Experience with IQGeo Network Manager

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS or other GIS platforms
• Knowledge of Cocon from Spare IT and/or S3 Arkis solutions in the GIS environment
• Knowledge of Claude Code and AI-supported development tools
