Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer - GitHub

Project overview

As part of the further development of our DevOps and development platform, the existing GitHub Enterprise Server environment is to be analyzed and, in the long term, migrated to GitHub Enterprise Cloud.

The goal of the project is the structured preparation, conception, and implementation of the cloud migration, taking into account existing repositories, user and authorization structures, CI/CD processes, and the deployed toolchain.

A further focus is on the introduction and company-wide establishment of GitHub Copilot in GitHub Enterprise Cloud. In addition to the technical implementation, security, compliance, and governance requirements must be considered, and the affected development teams must be prepared for the new environment through suitable training and enablement measures.

Responsibilities

Required knowledge and experience:

Framework conditions:

• Evaluation of the existing GitHub Enterprise Server environment (configuration, repositories, workflows, users)
• Analysis and optimization of the existing toolchain with regard to cloud compatibility
• Redesign and migration of GitHub Actions workflows and self-hosted runners for the cloud environment
• Creation of a migration concept including data, role, and authorization transfer
• Preparation and execution of a Proof of Concept (PoC) / pilot for the cloud migration
• Integration and configuration of GitHub Copilot in GitHub Enterprise Cloud
• Rollout planning and control of the company-wide Copilot introduction
• Creation of training materials and execution of enablement sessions for development teams
• Security and compliance assessment of the new cloud environment
• Several years of practical experience with GitHub Enterprise
• Profound knowledge of GitHub Enterprise Server and GitHub Enterprise Cloud
• Demonstrable experience in migrating from GitHub Enterprise Server to GitHub Enterprise Cloud
• Very good knowledge of GitHub Actions
• Experience with the conception and administration of self-hosted runners
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps processes
• Experience in the conception and implementation of cloud migrations
• Good knowledge of Identity & Access Management, role, and authorization concepts
• Experience with security, governance, and compliance requirements in enterprise environments
• Experience with the introduction and administration of GitHub Copilot
