Description

For a long-term project with a renowned company in the digital environment, we are looking for an experienced Senior-level DevOps Platform Engineer.

You will be part of an agile platform team and work on a modern cloud platform based on AWS and Kubernetes.

The focus of the position is clearly on the production operation of the platform. In addition to operations and quality assurance, your tasks will include deployments, automation, and the technical further development of the platform.

We are not looking for a pure developer profile. Practical experience in operating production cloud or Kubernetes environments and the willingness to take responsibility for their stability and availability are crucial.

Responsibilities

• Operation and continuous optimization of a production cloud platform on AWS and Kubernetes
• Support and further development of production Kubernetes clusters on AWS (EKS)
• Ensuring the stability, availability, performance, scalability, and quality of the platform
• Analysis and resolution of disruptions and technical problems during ongoing operation
• Taking over operations responsibility for the platform
• Building and further developing the monitoring and observability landscape
• Use of technologies such as Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, and AWS CloudWatch
• Execution and automation of deployments
• Automation of infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
• Working with and further developing CI/CD pipelines
• Technical further development and modernization of the platform
• Provision of a reliable platform, ideally self-service-capable, for development teams
• Close collaboration with the Developer Experience team
• Further development of Golden Paths and optimization of the Developer Journey
• Transparent and understandable documentation of technical solutions and work results
• Participation in rotating on-call duty within the team

Requirements

Project Environment

You will work in an agile platform team on a modern cloud and Kubernetes environment. The platform is continuously developed, modernized, and managed in production operation.

The position combines operations and platform management with deployment, automation, and technical further development. However, the focus is explicitly on the reliable operation and quality of the platform, not on pure software development.

Framework Conditions

Participation in on-call duty to ensure stable platform operation // approx. 1 week of on-call duty every 7-8 weeks

• Practical experience in operating production Kubernetes clusters
• Sound knowledge in cloud and platform operation
• Good AWS knowledge, especially in EKS, VPC, IAM, S3, and Lambda
• Experience with monitoring and observability, ideally with Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, and/or CloudWatch
• Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code
• Good knowledge in automating infrastructure and deployments
• Experience with troubleshooting and error analysis in production operation
• Understanding of security, performance, scalability, and operational quality
• Openness to multi-cloud environments
• Willingness to take responsibility for ongoing platform operation
• Willingness to participate in on-call duty
• Independent and structured way of working, as well as good communication and teamwork skills
• Start: short notice / by arrangement
• Duration: initially until 31.12.2026
• Perspective: long-term collaboration with extension option; at least 2 years aimed for

• Remote share: up to 90% by arrangement (approx. 1 time per month on-site for team meetings)
