Senior Engineer CheckMK / Grafana

Project overview

For one of our major clients, we are currently looking for support for the following requirements:

For the setup and further development of a central enterprise monitoring platform, we are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer with deep expertise in CheckMK and Grafana.

The focus is on the conception and migration of highly available and geo-redundant monitoring environments, as well as the integration of CheckMK, Grafana, and InfluxDB. Furthermore, existing monitoring structures are to be replaced, automated, and transferred to regular operation, taking into account the requirements of BSI IT Basic Protection.

Responsibilities

• Conception, setup, and migration of a highly available CheckMK enterprise environment
• Conception and further development of a highly available or geo-redundant Grafana environment
• Implementation of distributed monitoring, remote sites, failover, and disaster recovery
• Integration of CheckMK, Grafana, and InfluxDB into a central monitoring solution
• Migration and replacement of existing monitoring systems, including cutover and rollback concepts
• Automation of installation, configuration, and deployment with Ansible
• Analysis of technical requirements and their translation into technical concepts and work packages
• Implementation of security and BSI IT Basic Protection requirements
• Creation of technical documentation and handover to regular operations

Requirements

• Several years of in-depth practical experience with CheckMK Enterprise Edition
• Very good practical knowledge of Grafana and experience with productive enterprise environments
• Demonstrable experience with CheckMK and Grafana architectures, migrations, and HA or geo-redundancy concepts
• Experience with distributed monitoring and remote sites in CheckMK
• Practical experience with InfluxDB or comparable time-series databases
• Very good knowledge of Ansible and Infrastructure as Code
• Sound Linux knowledge
• Experience with REST APIs, SNMP, TLS/PKI, and Python and/or Bash
• Practical knowledge of BSI IT Basic Protection and experience with security requirements
• Experience in technical requirements analysis and architecture conception
• Project experience in the public or regulated sector is an advantage
• Location: Remote on Mondays and Fridays, on-site in Berlin from Tuesdays to Thursdays, possibly Bonn
• Duration: Immediate
• 12 months + option for extension
• Utilization: Full-time
