Senior Golang Backend Developer – Search Team

Project overview

Context

Our client is a leading consumer online platform in France, used by several million people each month. They are looking for a Senior Golang Backend Developer to strengthen their Search team. Search is the entry point for the vast majority of users and a central element of the product.

You will join a multidisciplinary team, highly invested in technical and product aspects. You will be involved in the entire development cycle of features, working closely with machine learning engineers, frontend developers, and other internal teams.

Golang, microservices and event-driven architecture, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Datadog, Kibana, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL

• Redesigning the infrastructure for saved searches, to inform 100% of users of relevant new listings in real-time and according to their preferences
• Evolving the routing system of the main service, to facilitate experimentation (new features, new search engines) and the management of A/B tests
• Implementing and A/B testing, with ML engineers, a new version of search personalization (new signals, model architectures, embeddings…)
• Experimenting with an alternative technology to gain performance and iteration speed
• Optimizing existing architectures to absorb traffic growth at controlled cost
• Improving platform modularity to support new use cases
• Participate in product scoping by providing a technical vision (feasibility, scalability)
• Design, develop, and maintain robust and performant backend services in Golang
• Design and share resilient, secure, and scalable architectures
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the microservices architecture
• Collaborate with Product Managers, ML Engineers, and front teams (Web & Mobile)
• Implement and maintain monitoring and observability of services
• Participate in code reviews, incident resolution, and sharing best practices
• Participate in on-call rotations for the scope
• AWS experience
• Experience in Information Retrieval or with a search engine (Elasticsearch or equivalent)
• Recommendation experience
• Experience with projects relying on ML under high latency constraints, at scale
