Job description

Project overview

Project:

The project is a complex software implementation for an international enterprise in the energy sector (power plants and electrical grids). The goal is to build a web application for a helicopter and drone-based sensor solution, where data from sensors is used to generate insights for power grid maintenance using artificial intelligence and advanced analytics tools.

Job Description:

Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer

We are looking for an experienced engineer to operate and improve infrastructure for an international enterprise in the energy sector. This is a full-time, long-term role, working primarily remotely with an international team.

You will manage existing on-premises systems used to ingest and process sensor data and run AI workloads. The work includes daily administration, troubleshooting, and making the infrastructure easier to maintain. There is room to propose improvements, plan them with the team, and carry them through to implementation.

You will work closely with a strong tech lead / architect from our side and a large team from the customer side.

  • Project Duration: long-term, full-time
  • Project Location: remote (occasional workshops in Berlin possible) Europe preferred.
  • Project Setup: Agile software development with international stakeholders and implementation team (including USA, Germany, Spain, Poland)

Responsibilities

What we are looking for

Important note: Skills and experience is not everything to us. It is equally important that you are enthusiastic about work (if the project is interesting) and are fun to work with. :-)

We strongly prefer candidates in the European time zone as you need to align as well with the UK, United States, Europe and India. Your closest counterparts are located in UK, Sweden and India.

  • Manage Kubernetes clusters, Linux servers, virtual machines, and GPU nodes.
  • Configure networking, firewalls, VPN access, and S3-compatible storage.
  • Maintain software and drivers, including a Windows system used for specialist tools.
  • Manage backups to Google Cloud and verify that data can be restored.
  • Automate recurring tasks, improve user access management, and document operational procedures.
  • You will work closely with the existing DevOps team, which handles application deployments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration, Kubernetes cluster operations, networking, and storage.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and backup and recovery.
  • Ability to investigate unfamiliar systems, diagnose problems, and work independently.
  • A practical approach to balancing daily support with longer-term improvements.
  • Clear communication and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Experience with GPU drivers and Windows administration is useful. Occasional on-site support for larger hardware changes may be discussed.
  • This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on operations and wants to help shape how the infrastructure develops.
