Senior Java Legacy Developer Insurance | Remote | ASAP

Project overview

For our client in the insurance industry, we are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer (m/f/d) on short notice to support a strategically important legacy system.

Project Environment

As part of a backfill, an experienced developer is sought who can quickly familiarize themselves with historically grown applications. The system landscape is in transition to a new target architecture and will be operated in "keep alive" mode until the successor solution goes live.

In addition to classic maintenance and error analysis, modernization and AI-based cleanup of technical debt and security findings are also in focus. The applications contain a high proportion of business logic from the insurance sector.

Responsibilities

Must-have Skills

• Analysis and maintenance of complex legacy applications
• Familiarization with historically grown business logic
• Processing of security and code quality defects
• Support in AI-based processing of findings
• Error analysis and bug fixing in the backend and rule engine
• Impact analysis for business adjustments
• Ensuring stable operation of legacy systems
• Collaboration with business departments and architects
• Very good Java skills (Java 8/11)
• Experience with legacy systems and grown codebases
• Experience with SOAP and REST services
• Knowledge of Tomcat and/or Java Application Server
• Git / GitLab
• Eclipse IDE
• Experience in analyzing complex business logic
• Independent familiarization with existing systems
