We are looking for a Senior/Lead Full Stack Cloud Engineer to join a leading UK banking client on a 12-month hybrid contract based in Halifax. You will design, build and run secure, scalable, cloud-native applications using Java, Quarkus, React and Google Cloud Platform. The role covers the full development life cycle, from design to production support, and carries technical leadership, engineering standards and mentoring responsibility. 2 days per week on-site are required.

Senior Java Quarkus Full Stack Engineer - 12 months - Halifax (2 days)- Inside IR35

• Design, build and test enterprise applications in Java and Quarkus, with React user interfaces
• Develop secure, versioned REST APIs and independently deployable microservices
• Build event-driven solutions on GCP Pub/Sub: retries, idempotency, dead-letter handling, schema versioning
• Deploy and run workloads on Cloud Run and GKE, using Docker and Kubernetes
• Build CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines, with automated testing and security scanning
• Apply security by design: IAM, Secret Manager, secure coding and threat modelling
• Own observability and production support: logging, metrics, tracing, incidents and root cause analysis
• Provide technical leadership: set standards, review designs and code, and mentor engineers
• 8+ years' software engineering experience, with distributed cloud-native systems
• Advanced Java (17+), Quarkus, microservices and API development
• React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3
• GCP: Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Build, IAM, Secret Manager
• Event-driven architecture and messaging patterns
• Docker and Kubernetes
• CI/CD, DevSecOps and Git-based development
• TDD/BDD, with automated unit, integration and API testing
• Observability, monitoring and production support
• Cloud DevOps skills and application monitoring (desirable)
• Proven technical leadership, mentoring and communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Duration: 12 months initial
• Rate: £375-410 per day
• Determination: Inside IR35
• Location: Halifax (Hybrid)
