Senior Platform Engineer – CI/CD & Platform Architecture

Project overview

Description

For our client in public transport, we are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with pronounced architectural competence. You will further develop an OpenShift-based platform as well as the build, CI/CD, and delivery processes for business-critical applications. In doing so, you will gradually take over architectural responsibility for the platform and delivery landscape and support several development teams in the reliable, secure, and efficient delivery of their applications.

• Conception and further development of the delivery pipeline, build and CI tooling, and deployment automation
• Further development of the OpenShift-based platform, considering maintainability, stability, security, and automation
• Development of overarching target visions, architectural concepts, and standards for build, CI/CD, deployment, and platform integration
• Gradual assumption of architectural responsibility and co-shaping of the technical roadmap
• Coordination of architectural decisions with Product Owners, development teams, operations, security, and other architectural leads
• Measurement and improvement of quality, stability, and delivery performance using appropriate metrics and monitoring tools
• Coaching of engineers and development teams in platform, CI/CD, deployment, and architecture matters
• Understandable documentation of tools, concepts, and architectural decisions

Requirements

• At least five years of professional experience in software development, software architecture, platform engineering, DevOps, or CI/CD
• Of which several years of experience in the architecture of platform, integration, or delivery landscapes in complex production environments
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and functional interrelationships and derive viable architectural concepts from them
• Experience in taking technical responsibility as well as in moderating and coordinating architectural decisions across multiple teams
• Experience with AI-supported software development and automation of recurring tasks
• High degree of independence, resilience, and pronounced quality and solution orientation
• Very good communication and presentation skills in German and good business English
• Knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes, container technologies, GitOps, Argo CD, Helm, or Infrastructure as Code (advantageous)
• Experience with monitoring, telemetry, and observability, e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk (advantageous)
• Experience as Lead Architect, Solution Architect, Platform Architect, or Technical Lead in a complex system landscape (advantageous)
