Senior / Principal Software Engineer - Java, Spring Boot & Kafka (80-100%)

Project overview

For our client, we are looking for an experienced Java / Spring Boot Software Engineer at a Principal level with pronounced Kafka expertise. You will develop high-performance, scalable applications for processing very large amounts of data and take responsibility for demanding technical solutions.

• Development and optimization of high-performance backend applications with Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka
• Technical responsibility for demanding solutions as well as active shaping of the architecture and design of distributed systems
• Conception and implementation of scalable solutions for reliable processing of very large data and transaction volumes
• Analysis of performance problems and development of sustainable technical improvements
• Independent development and convincing representation of technical decisions in collaboration with architects, developers, and other stakeholders
• Ensuring high code quality through automated tests and proven development practices
• Technical support for other developers as well as active knowledge transfer within the team
• In-depth, current practical experience with Kafka and Java, which you regularly use in production projects
• 5+ years of experience in professional software development with very solid knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
• Demonstrable experience with high-performance systems and processing large amounts of data
• Very good knowledge of software architecture, distributed systems, and performance optimization
• Experience with SQL, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab
• Knowledge of unit and integration testing as well as ideally Splunk and Citrus
• Completed computer science degree (university/university of applied sciences) or comparable qualification
• You work independently, structured, and solution-oriented
• You can explain complex technical issues understandably, justify decisions, and technically convince different stakeholder groups
• Very good German and good English skills
