Background Assignment
The WiFi is a LAN component of our NAFIN (Netherlands Armed Forces Integrated Network). The department offers wireless IP connectivity for users within Defense. Defense is growing, leading to increased demand for WiFi as new buildings are taken into use. To facilitate this expansion of the installed base, many change requests arise. This expansion also impacts the team. This can be managed partly by additional resources, but Network Automation is becoming increasingly important.
This applies both to doing more with the same number of people and to ensuring the reliability, stability, and continuity of the network infrastructure. Additionally, the department is undergoing a reorganization. The role therefore has a temporary nature.
- Lifecycle management; tracking the status of the installed base and creating lifecycle plans based on the status, including alignment with suppliers and monitoring/reporting on progress.
- Facilitating the team of designers and administrators so they can be optimally deployed.
- Reviewing, submitting, and defending change requests.
- Providing communication to the environment for both changes, policy changes, and news updates.
- Monitoring the technical standard of the building block and ensuring further standardization where necessary.
- Coordinating the execution of technical adjustments to the building block, prompted by, for example, new possibilities from the environment.
- Collaboration in the chain with other building blocks to optimize the chain.
- Conducting research and analyzing problem areas to arrive at a structural (technical) solution for continuity;
- You contribute to audits by Internal Auditing Defense by delivering, among other things, audit trails, log files, authorization overviews, and elaboration of technical standards; where necessary, you coordinate the development of improvements.
- Developing forecasts based on expected expenses required to bring/keep the technology at the desired level.
- Supporting procurement processes and coordination with suppliers and the internal procurement organization.
- Preparing reports on the functioning of the building blocks in terms of performance and consumption;
