Senior QA Engineer

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced/senior QA Engineer, specializing in backend testing and API automation, to support one of our clients, a major player in the mobility sector.

The context

You will join an agile team working on the backend core of a mobility services distribution and commercialization solution.

In collaboration with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and developers, you will own your team's testing strategy and directly contribute to the development of automated tests.

You will also work with other QAs and Quality Engineers in the domain to harmonize practices and ensure the consistency of the quality approach.

Your missions

Profile sought

You have proven experience in software quality, with practical experience in developing and industrializing automated backend/API tests.

You know how to take a step back to define an appropriate testing approach, while remaining involved in its technical implementation.

The essential skills are:

Experience with Datadog and Gradle is also important.

You understand production constraints as well as the load, availability, and exploitability challenges of applications. Autonomous and proactive, you appreciate teamwork and can explain your technical choices as well as your quality recommendations.

Technical environment

Java 21, Cucumber, Postman, Bruno, mock servers, Gradle, Maven, GitLab CI/CD, and Datadog.

Knowledge of Kotlin, WireMock, or AWS/Azure cloud services will be appreciated.

Work environment

🏡 Remote work: 3 days per week

⏳ Long-term client mission, potentially up to 3 years

💼 Contract: freelance or permanent contract

💰 Freelance daily rate: €425 — Permanent contract salary: €50,000 gross/year

• Define and manage the team's testing strategy, considering the functional, technical, and operational stakes of the product.
• Analyze the architecture and functioning of backend components to identify relevant test scenarios.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated API tests in Java with Cucumber.
• Evolve the automation framework, analyze failures, and ensure the reliability of test campaigns.
• Contribute to the integration of tests into GitLab CI/CD pipelines and the improvement of the software factory.
• Prepare and execute acceptance and non-regression tests, then support the team in analyzing and resolving anomalies.
• Participate in the validation of two releases per week, assess risks, and provide an informed Go or No Go recommendation.
• Implement and share quality and automation indicators.
• Support the team in adopting best practices and contribute to exchanges between QA/QE.
• Java: development and maintenance of automated tests.
• Cucumber: scenario design and test implementation.
• Postman: API test design, execution, and analysis.
• Git and GitLab CI/CD: code management and integration of tests into pipelines.
