Job description
Alliander is seeking two experienced Senior Scrum Masters for their ART Netdigitalisering to drive Agile practices and deliver value in a complex, evolving energy transition environment. The role requires coaching, facilitation, and proactive problem-solving to enhance team performance and organizational agility.
Project overview
Senior Scrum Master – ART Netdigitalisering
Within Alliander, we have built a professional Agile community. The next step is clear: more ownership, more predictability, and demonstrable results. We want to grow further into a high-performing organization where Agile working is not a goal in itself, but helps us deliver value faster and better.
For ART Netdigitalisering, we are looking for 2 experienced Senior Scrum Masters who will not stand on the sidelines. Professionals who keenly see what teams, Product Owners, and the ART need, take initiative, and make things discussable when progress, collaboration, or ownership lags.
You coach where it helps and are clear where it is needed. You dare to confront, ask sharp questions, and help teams to actually convert ambitions and agreements into results.
Working within ART Netdigitalisering
The energy transition requires us to measure, understand, and control our energy grid ever more intelligently. ART Netdigitalisering plays a crucial role in this.
Within this ART, we develop and manage the measurement and control solutions with which Alliander digitizes the energy grids and enables remote control. We ensure that these solutions work completely, correctly, and on time, so that the organization can make better choices about the energy grid of today and tomorrow.
This makes it a technically complex environment where OT and IT come together and where teams, products, and dependencies are closely linked.
It is precisely in this complexity that we are looking for Scrum Masters who can make a difference. Not by taking over complexity, but by creating overview, strengthening collaboration, making impediments visible, and organizing movement.
The energy transition is impossible without you as a Senior Scrum Master
As a Senior Scrum Master, you help teams, Product Owners, and the ART to deliver value ever more effectively. You look beyond organizing Agile events or correctly applying a framework.
You focus on results, collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
You see where teams get stuck and do not wait for someone else to solve the problem. You make patterns and dependencies visible, bring the right people together, and ensure that improvements do not remain good intentions.
You know when to coach, when to facilitate, and when it is necessary to take a firm stance.
You work from your experience with SAFe, Scrum, DevOps, and/or Kanban, among others, but consciously choose what the situation requires. The central question is always: does our way of working help us achieve better results and deliver value?
As a Senior Scrum Master:
You are given a lot of room to take initiative. We also expect you to take that room.
An environment that asks something of you
ART Netdigitalisering is not an environment where all issues neatly stay within one team or one discipline.
You work in a technically complex context with different disciplines, interests, and dependencies. Change here therefore requires not only knowledge of Agile working but also organizational sensitivity, persuasive power, and the ability to create movement across team boundaries.
As an experienced Scrum Master, you are comfortable with that. You don't have to be the technical OT expert yourself, but you are curious enough to understand the context and sharp enough to see what hinders collaboration and results.
You also dare to bring difficult topics to the table. Not to sharpen the discussion, but to ensure that teams and stakeholders move forward.
You make the difference
For this role, we explicitly seek experienced Scrum Masters with seniority in behavior and action.
You easily build relationships but do not depend on consensus to get moving. You can recognize different interests and maintain direction at the same time. You dare to share a different observation, ask questions that matter, and can handle resistance without losing connection.
You can switch between people and results. You understand that sustainable performance arises from good collaboration, but also that good collaboration must ultimately be visible in what teams and the ART achieve. You also bring:
Experience within a technical, IT, or OT environment is a plus. More importantly, you quickly understand what a complex environment demands from teams and collaboration and can act effectively within it.

Working together on a smarter energy grid
Alliander, together with Liander, Qirion, Qterra, DEP, Firan, and Entrnce, develops and manages the energy grid for millions of people in the Netherlands.
The energy transition demands a lot from that grid and from our organization. Digitalization is essential to meet that challenge.
That's why we give you the space to use your expertise and take initiative. We are not looking for a Scrum Master who only monitors whether the process is followed correctly. We are looking for a professional who, with teams and stakeholders, explores what can be improved, takes responsibility for their role, and helps to actually realize that improvement.
You will work with smart and involved professionals and have ample opportunities to develop yourself and the profession further.
