Project overview

We are looking for an experienced freelance Senior Software Developer (m/f) in the area of development and system integration for an innovative high-tech service provider in the field of smart product development and electronics, southwest of Munich. The assignment will be carried out as a service contract directly with our client company.

This position requires project-related on-site presence (approx. 30%) for hardware-related activities.

Responsibilities

Our requirements

• Application development (RTOS): Development of hardware-related embedded applications based on FreeRTOS or ThreadX for ARM Cortex-M systems, from application logic to system integration
• Backend & Software Interfaces: Conception and realization of backend functionalities as well as interfaces to subsystems and user interfaces in C and C++
• Driver development: Design and implementation of device and interface drivers (e.g., UART, USB, SPI, I2C) including stable integration into the overall architecture
• Algorithms & Control Engineering: Modeling and implementation of control and regulation algorithms for embedded systems
• UI integration: Participation in the implementation of modern graphical user interfaces (e.g., using TouchGFX, LVGL, or uGFX)
• Code quality & Performance: Conducting code reviews, ensuring sustainability, and analyzing and optimizing runtime behavior, memory usage, and system performance
• Completed technical degree (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering) or a comparable qualification in the embedded environment
• Sound experience in developing applications on FreeRTOS or ThreadX-based systems, e.g., as an Embedded Software Engineer, Firmware Developer, or Embedded Systems Developer
• Very good knowledge of C and modern C++ as well as proficient handling of Linux-based development environments and Git
• Strong understanding of hardware (reading circuit diagrams, electrical engineering fundamentals); experience in microcontroller pin and function design (e.g., with STM32CubeMX) is an advantage
• Good knowledge in connecting common hardware interfaces (UART, USB, SPI, I2C) as well as experience with build systems (CMake, Make) and cross-compilation
• Confidence in using debugging tools (e.g., JTAG/SWD) as well as measurement and analysis tools
• Experience with quality assurance measures (unit tests, static code analysis, continuous integration) and agile methodologies
