Senior System Engineer Linux-Debian

Project overview

Analysis and evaluation of the existing concept for the move to a new data center --> identify weaknesses/missing points

Setup and commissioning of the Debian servers

Configuration of individual infrastructure modules

Securing system and customer access

Setup of a new GitLab system as an engineering platform

Porting of existing applications and services

Adjustment of DNS entries and routing

Ensuring customer access to the platform

Migration or porting of the mail server

Setup and management of containers and virtual environments

Execution or conception of automated software deployments

Support with the physical setup of the racks

The goal is for the applications and services from the previous data center to run completely and securely in the new data center after the move.

Requirements

Experience with Linux Debian

Experience with Linux Debian regarding setup, configuration, administration, and commissioning of servers

Experience with data centers / hardware

Experience in setting up/populating racks, installing server HW, cabling, and commissioning physical servers

Experience with containerization and virtualization

Experience with containerization and virtualization and understanding of how containers and virtual systems are set up/operated on servers

Experience with SW deployment

Experience with automated SW deployments, ideally CI/CD pipelines

Language skills: English and German fluent
