Job description
Seeking a Senior T-SQL Performance Engineer to analyze, develop, and optimize SQL Server solutions for an enterprise client/server system, focusing on performance and data integrity.
Project overview
For our client in the engineering software industry, we are currently looking for an experienced Senior T-SQL Performance Engineer.
As part of the further development of an enterprise client/server system used internationally, productive SQL Server solutions are to be analyzed, further developed, and measurably optimized. The focus is on performance, data integrity, concurrency, and secure releases within a historically grown database and application layer. Optimizations will be secured through robust before/after measurements, automated tests, and technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Conception, implementation, review, and optimization of demanding T-SQL solutions, especially stored procedures, triggers, and set-based processing
- Analysis of actual execution plans and optimization of queries, indexes, statistics, and plan stability
- Investigation and reduction of locking, blocking, deadlocks, and lock escalation in highly parallel multi-user scenarios
- Performance-secure implementation of extensive insert, update, and delete processes, including batch, transaction, restart, and rollback strategies
- Execution and documentation of performance measurements, automated tests, code reviews, and CI/CD checks, as well as structured knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- Very good experience in the development and performance optimization of complex T-SQL solutions in a productive SQL Server environment
- Sound knowledge in the analysis of actual execution plans and in query, index, statistics, and plan optimization
- In-depth understanding of transactions, concurrency, locking, blocking, deadlocks, and lock escalation
- Experience with large data modification operations, hierarchical data models, foreign keys, referential integrity, and cascade rules
- Practice in robust error handling, automated database tests, performance measurements, code reviews, and CI/CD-supported development processes.
Nice to have
- Experience with OLE DB connections in C++
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps and the traceable maintenance of technical work tasks
- Experience with high-volume audit and change collectors
