Job description
Seeking an experienced Senior Zscaler Engineer for planning, implementing, and integrating Zero Trust and SASE solutions, with a focus on Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, and Branch Connect. The role involves migrating existing infrastructures and supporting carve-out/PMI projects, preferably for nearshore freelancers from Portugal.
Project overview
For a demanding customer project, we are looking for an experienced Senior Zscaler Engineer (m/f/d) for the planning, implementation, and integration of modern Zero Trust and SASE solutions. Freelancers in a nearshore model from Portugal are preferred.
The focus is on Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, and Branch Connect, as well as the migration of existing network and security infrastructures. Furthermore, the expert will support carve-out and post-merger integration (PMI) projects.
Responsibilities
- Planning, design, and implementation of Zscaler solutions (ZIA, ZPA, ZDX, ZCC)
- Conception and implementation of Zscaler Branch Connect, including Cloud Branch and SD-WAN integration
- Migration of existing proxy, firewall, and MPLS infrastructures to the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform
- Implementation of secure network connections in carve-out and PMI scenarios
- Technical consulting and architecture support for Zero Trust and SASE transformations
- Conducting workshops, proofs of concept, and technical training
- Creation of HLD/LLD concepts, architecture documentation, and operating manuals
- Error analysis and resolution of complex incidents in 2nd/3rd level support

- Several years of practical experience with Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA)
- Profound knowledge of Zscaler Branch Connect and SD-WAN integration
- Very good knowledge of Zero Trust, ZTNA, and SASE
- Experience with BGP, OSPF, IPSec/GRE, DNS, HTTP/S Inspection, and Split Tunneling
- Knowledge of Azure, AWS, or GCP, as well as hybrid cloud architectures
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, SAML 2.0, and SCIM
- Experience in IT consulting and complex customer projects
- German language skills at least C1 and English language skills at least B2
- Zscaler certifications (ZCCA-IA, ZCCA-PA, or ZCCP)
- Other vendor certifications, e.g., CCNP or PCNSE
- Experience in carve-out and PMI projects
