Job description
We are looking for a developer with expertise in Apache PDFBox to analyze and fix recurring errors in PDF generation, signing, and archiving for a client in the statutory health insurance sector. The role is 100% remote and requires approximately 25 person-days of flexible work.
Project overview
Role: Developer / Software Developer (Apache PDFBox)
For a large client in the statutory health sector, we are looking for short-term support in analyzing and fixing error patterns in the context of PDF processing using PDFBox.
Specific error patterns are occurring in the ongoing production operation during automated PDF generation, signing, and storage that need to be fixed:
Transmission Interruptions: Interruptions in message transmission occur during the compilation, signing, and submission of complete PDFs to input management.
Display Errors: Isolated faulty blank pages (white pages) are generated in the processed document.
Document Display: After editing, supplementing, and re-uploading documents, they can no longer be visualized correctly in the Document Service.
Archiving / Long-term Storage: Submitted PDFs cannot currently be reliably reformatted into the required format for long-term archiving ( Dauerablage).
Responsibilities
Technical analysis of the existing PDFBox implementation and identification of the causes for the mentioned error patterns
Design and implementation of bug fixes in the PDF creation, signing, and conversion process
Ensuring error-free preparation for Document Service and archiving
Execution of unit and integration tests to secure the fixes
Requirements & Skills
Sound, several years of practical experience with Apache PDFBox (PDF rendering, merging, form fields, signing, conversion)
Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing PDF processing pipelines in an enterprise environment
Know-how in handling long-term archiving formats (e.g., PDF/A) is an advantage
Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working
Good communication skills (German or English)
