Software Engineering Team Lead / Manager (C++) - ASAP - 6 Months+ - Remote & Onsite

Project overview

You will support our client as an Engineering Team Manager for a product team, taking on the technical leadership as well as coaching an interdisciplinary development and QA team. The focus of the role is on the further development of the engineering culture, increasing team performance, supporting technical decisions, and ensuring effective collaboration between Engineering, Product Management, Architecture, and Security.

Responsibilities

Skills:

• Technical leadership as well as coaching and mentoring an interdisciplinary team of software developers and QA specialists (approx. 10 people) with the goal of promoting self-responsibility, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
• Steering technical decisions, architectural improvements, and modernization initiatives within a large C++ codebase that has grown over many years.
• Definition and implementation of technical roadmaps in close cooperation with Product Management and relevant stakeholders.
• Conducting architecture and code reviews as well as technical deep dives for continuous improvement of software quality, maintainability, testability, and development processes.
• Close collaboration with the Architecture, Security, and Product Management departments to ensure consistent solutions, reusable components, and clearly defined interfaces within the product landscape.
• Several years of experience as an Engineering Lead, Technical Lead, Software Development Manager, or Principal Software Engineer.
• Sound practical experience in C++ software development on the Windows platform (Win32, MFC, MSVC, COM/ActiveX).
• Proven experience in software architecture, refactoring, and modernization of complex legacy applications.
• Strong leadership and management skills as well as experience in leading agile software development teams.
• Experience in collaborating with Product Management, Architecture, Security, and interdisciplinary development teams.
• Proven ability to work independently and take responsibility and ownership for topics and results.
• Good knowledge of Qt (ideally Qt 6), PostgreSQL, and ideally C#.
• Experience in the health or e-health sector.
