Key responsibilities

Essential technical skills and experience

• Lead the design and development of end-to-end solution architectures for digital services and transformation programmes.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure and cost-effective technical solutions.
• Produce high-level and low-level solution architecture designs, technical specifications, architecture diagrams and implementation roadmaps.
• Design cloud-based solutions using AWS and Azure, ensuring scalability, availability, resilience and security.
• Define application architecture, integration patterns, APIs, microservices and data flows across multiple systems.
• Work closely with development teams using Java, Spring Boot, React, Node.js, .NET and other enterprise technologies.
• Support Legacy application modernisation, system migration and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Ensure solutions follow organisational architectural principles, enterprise standards, security policies and technology guidelines.
• Assess technical risks, identify dependencies and recommend appropriate architectural patterns and technologies.
• Work with security, infrastructure, DevOps and data teams to ensure solutions meet operational and compliance requirements.
• Participate in architecture governance and technical design reviews.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to software engineers, technical leads and delivery teams.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts and senior stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business objectives.
• Support Agile delivery teams throughout the software development lifecycle, from discovery and design through to implementation and production support.
• Proven experience as a Solution Architect within large-scale enterprise or public-sector environments.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, application architecture and solution design principles.
