Project overview

Hi all,

Seeking an AWS System Administrator (m/f/d) with a strong hands-on focus and senior/architecture level.

The focus is on the administration and further development of an AWS cloud environment with a high EC2 share and consistent automation via Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Administration and further development of the AWS cloud environment (strong EC2 focus, S3, IAM, other native AWS services)
• Ensuring stable, secure, and scalable operation; conducting tech reviews and measures to increase robustness and cost efficiency
• Automation of infrastructure with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) for consistent and reproducible deployments
• Management of user and permission concepts in AWS and Atlassian; implementation of security policies (IAM, Security Best Practices)
• 3rd-level support in the cloud environment; troubleshooting complex technical issues
• Overview of overall architectures including DR considerations and interaction between Cloud/On-Prem (high-level view)

Requirements

Must-haves:

• At least 5 years of experience in system administration with a focus on cloud (AWS) and collaboration tools
• In-depth knowledge of AWS services and their secure operation (esp. EC2, S3, VPC, IAM; other native AWS services)
• Very good IaC skills with Terraform; automate and deploy infrastructure reproducibly
• GitLab CI/CD
• Knowledge of automation and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
• Familiarity with IT security and Identity and Access Management
• Strong hands-on approach (3rd-level/engineering), technical depth with architectural understanding

Nice to have

Important: The client is very interested in candidates who bring an option for permanent employment long-term (but this is not a must!)

Languages:

German: fluent/negotiation level

English: advanced

• AWS Architecture Certification at Professional level or equivalent
• Basic understanding of classic on-prem infra and DR scenarios (for architecture reviews)
• Experience in cost management and optimization in AWS
• Docker
